Online Course : teaching Pregnancy Yoga

Tara Lee (www.taraleeyoga.com) and I have collaborated since 2012 writing a series of DVDs for pregnancy and postnatal. We wanted to create a training for yoga teachers that provided all the information needed to teach pregnant students, along with a great big dollop of inspiration and understanding. We want teachers to know the essential principles of pregnancy so that they can make the best decisions with their students.

With the ratio of women practitioners in yoga classes today there is a high likelihood that all teachers will experience a student coming to class pregnant. Just a little information can give you the confidence to advise and teach your students safely and in a way that honours the start of their pregnancy journey.

This course includes four hours of learning specifically designed for yoga teachers. Learn how to respond to the needs of expectant mothers and how to advise them throughout a lesson.

The course includes:

  • Introduction to pregnancy
  • Benefits of teaching pregnancy yoga
  • Understanding contraindications
  • How to modify a range of common yoga poses

About

I am a 500hr experienced and registered yoga teacher (500hr E-RYT). I’m accredited by Yoga Alliance US, Yoga Alliance Professional UK and The British Wheel of Yoga. I’ve been teaching yoga in London since 2009, worked at multiple studios including Good Vibes, The Life Centre and my home studio ReCentre-health. I now work privately in South West London, and teach on two Yoga Teacher Training programs, where I specialise in teaching Anatomy & Physiology, Pregnancy and the energetics of yoga.

A born and raised Londoner, I discovered yoga, Reiki and healthy nutrition in my early twenties, the balm to balance busy London life. Qualifying to teach yoga in 2008, I moved to full time teaching and massage therapy in 2009.

I specialise in working with the patterns of movement and mind that are supporting you and to unfold the patterns that are holding you back. I teach privately, 1:1 in people’s homes, and on retreat.

I am qualified as an ITEC holistic massage therapist, and an Ayurvedic massage and lifestyle therapist, and a Reiki practitioner for public practice. I am a Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner and coach. I have taken trainings in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Theta healing, and Personal Performance Coaching. I attend various yoga workshops each year and have studied with, and worked for, Katrina Repka and the ISHTA Yoga school in London since 2012.

After my initial yoga training I joined my mum as we expanded her Physiotherapy and Complementary health practice into ReCentre-health. Based in Balham, SW London, reCentre is an amazing place for calm and regeneration. Working alongside the physiotherapists, finding ways to improve my knowledge and understanding of anatomy, biomechanics and physiology became a clear focus for me, and led me to a three year span of anatomy workshops at a London teaching hospital. I am now on the board of directors at ReCentre-health.

Since becoming a mother in 2016 I have focused my work hours teaching on trainings, retreats and privately.
